Take someone/something for granted

Hello learners❗

This year has show us how much we has not been appreciating important things. I realised that I was taking simple things like breathing fresh air and travelling for granted. What about you? Have you been taking others of the best things in life for granted?

Do you know what this expression means? If you don't, read it in the following paragraph.

We 'take someone/something for granted' when we're so used to people/things that we do not show how much we value them any more.

Let's read an example❗
The pandemic has showed us that we shouldn't take life's joys for granted.
