Have you ever heard this phrasal verb? Do you know what it means? If you don't, read it below.

We use the phrasal verb 'light up something' to mean to become or to make something bright with colour or light.

In a figurative sense, if someone's eyes or face light up or they are lit up, they show happiness or excitement.

Every New Year' eve, the night sky is lit up with fireworks.
Municipaly of Lima are not lighting up the sky with fireworks in order to not harm the environment.
The sky was lit up with stars.
Sally flashed the torch to light up the dark room.
